Ravulizumab Cut Proteinuria by 43% in Phase 3 IgA Nephropathy Interim
Start here
An interim analysis of a phase 3 trial tested ravulizumab, a complement inhibitor, in IgA nephropathy, a disease in which antibody deposits damage the kidneys' filtering units and drive protein loss in urine. Of 485 randomized patients, 352 were included in the analysis. At week 34, ravulizumab produced a 24-hour urinary protein-to-creatinine ratio 43.4% lower than placebo. With ravulizumab, the geometric mean ratio fell 46.6%, from 1.56 to 0.83, while placebo produced only a 5.6% decline, from 1.60 to 1.48. The interim results, published in the New England Journal of Medicine on October 24, 2026, indicate a substantial reduction in proteinuria. Full trial completion and longer-term kidney outcomes remain open questions.
