🚨 Scientific embargoes exist for a reason: fair access to data, scientific integrity and, ultimately, patients.
Seeing a major #ESMO26 study disclosed ahead of schedule is disappointing.
I think ESMO takes its embargo policy seriously, and I would expect a breach of this magnitude to have consequences.
Science should set the timeline, not the stock market 😡
With INTerpath-001, someone clearly took a shortcut on the path to the data.

INTerpath-001: Phase 3 study of the mRNA-based individualized neoantigen therapy (INT) intismeran autogene (intismeran) plus pembrolizumab (pembro) vs pembro alone for adjuvant treatment of resected stage IIB-IV melanoma (MEL)

https://esmocongress.esmo.org#ESMO26: The embargo on LBA1, “INTerpath-001: Phase 3 study of the mRNA-based individualised neoantigen therapy intismeran autogene plus pembrolizumab versus pembrolizumab alone for adjuvant treatment of resected stage IIB-IV melanoma”, has been breached. As the data are now publicly available, ESMO has released the information contained in the abstract and has lifted the embargo on the full dataset.在 X 查看被引用的帖子

@LizHighleyman Very fair point, Liz. Accidental is entirely plausible, but it’s unfortunate that the consequences now fall on everyone who respected the embargo.

I don't know what sanctions the embargo-breaker will get, but ESMO has cut the rest of us off. I'd guess it was probably accidental (many of us have done so at one time or another due to confusion about embargo policies, time zones, CMS scheduling, etc), but when the financial stakes are so big, it's going to look suspicious.

@ivanpantic1980 I totally agree with you Iván

@MarioBalsaMD @ivanpantic1980 I think nowadays embargoes/press releases do more to build expectations for the stock market than to help research. With DESTINY-Lung04, we got a press release saying T-DXd beat chemo-IO on PFS, without a single number. At WCLC, same data cutoff, OS didn't favour T-DXd.

@MarioBalsaMD The breach had, I am sure, a malevolant intention, related with the casino that investment in biotechs has been transform in the last years. It is very sad.

@MarioBalsaMD If the top-line data had been released 2 months ago instead of today, the difference in effect on patients and scientific integrity would have been exactly ZERO. This embargo was for pure vanity.

@ivanpantic1980 Fair point, and I partly agree Iván. Embargo rules may need to evolve in an era of instant information, especially for topline results. But that is a different debate from breaching an embargo everyone has agreed to respect...

@MarioBalsaMD Sometimes embargoes, in an era of immediate information, are not close to reality. If basic data were disclosed at the time of press release and congress placement, the value of the data would remain and then will be discused deeper in the presentation and the peer review.
