#ESMO26: The benefits of systemic treatment intensification in very high-risk, localised and relapsed #ProstateCancer treated with radiotherapy were shown in the phase II DASL-HiCaP #ClinicalTrial. A superior 4-year metastasis-free survival rate was seen with the addition of the androgen receptor pathway inhibitor (#ARPI), darolutamide, to radiotherapy and androgen deprivation therapy (#ADP), compared with standard of care, supporting earlier evidence from the STAMPEDE trial.
A substudy of the PROTEUS phase II trial found that peri-operative use of the ARPI, apalutamide, alongside ADP, in patients with localised high-risk prostate cancer undergoing radical prostatectomy was associated with superior event-free survival, metastasis-free survival and time to subsequent treatment than radical prostatectomy plus pelvic lymph node dissection.
