Spatial epigenomics reveals ancestry-associated regulatory states linked to aggressive prostate cancer biology
Start here
Spatial ATAC-seq analysis of chromatin accessibility in tumors from localized prostate cancer patients receiving equal healthcare access showed reduced accessibility of CTCF-associated motifs in Black patients compared with White patients, along with enrichment of motifs linked to epithelial-mesenchymal transition and inflammation. Downregulated CTCF expression was independently validated by immunohistochemistry in 99 prostatectomy specimens, suggesting ancestry-associated chromatin regulatory differences may contribute to racial disparities in prostate cancer aggressiveness.
