SUMMIT framework extends LD-score heritability estimation beyond European ancestries
Start here
A preprint posted to bioRxiv Genomics on October 22, 2026 introduces SUMMIT, a statistical framework that combines genome-wide LD scores with GWAS summary statistics. It enables estimation of genome-wide and annotation-specific heritability and genetic correlation in European, South Asian, and admixed African-European populations. Extending such analyses beyond European-ancestry data has been a long-standing obstacle in quantitative genetics, and the framework is aimed squarely at it. The work is a preprint and has not yet been peer reviewed; independent validation of its estimates across the supported ancestries, and its uptake in large-scale analyses of non-European GWAS data, are still open questions.
