Open multimodal resource maps 1,000 colorectal cancers by proteomics and histology
Start here
A research team has released a clinically annotated, open-access resource covering 1,000 treatment-naive colorectal cancers. It integrates deep proteomics, targeted genomics, whole-slide histopathology and clinical follow-up data. Analysis of the proteome defined six subgroups and split the chromosomally unstable class into three functional subgroups, one indolent with favorable prognosis and one rare, previously unrecognized subgroup with poor prognosis. The resource, posted as a preprint, is available for the community to mine for biomarker and stratification work. Questions that remain open include independent validation of the newly defined subgroups and how the proteomic classification will translate into treatment decisions.

A research team has released a multimodal open resource covering 1,000 treatment-naive colorectal cancers, integrating deep proteomics, targeted genomics, whole-slide histopathology and clinical follow-up. From the proteome they define six subgroups and resolve the chromosomally unstable class into three functional subgroups, including an indolent subgroup with favorable prognosis and a rare, previously unrecognized subgroup with adverse outcome.
