Peking University People's Hospital Team's Original i-NYS Implantable Ocular Muscle Nerve Stimulator Approved, First Post-Market Implant Completed

In brief

The i-NYS implantable ocular muscle nerve stimulator, developed by a team at Peking University People's Hospital, has been approved by the NMPA and its first post-market implant completed. A 9-year-old patient received the implant behind the ear with an electrode fixed to the lateral rectus muscle on August 25, 2026, recovered smoothly, and began neuromodulation therapy after device activation on October 21. A multicenter clinical trial enrolled 71 patients, and 6-month follow-up showed the technology suppresses nystagmus at the signal source.

Why it matters

Multicenter trial, market approval, and first post-approval implant are linked to show a neuromodulation device moving from validation to practice.
