Xiamen University team develops ZnNO plus cisplatin strategy for hepatocellular carcinoma

Gang Liu, Yang Zhang and Pan He published a study in Cell Biomaterials developing fully active zinc nitroprusside nanomedicine ZnNO, which reprograms cisplatin into a chemoimmunotherapeutic agent for hepatocellular carcinoma. ZnNO enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting GSH and releasing NO, while Zn2+ activates the PERK-eIF2α pathway and induces endoplasmic reticulum stress, restoring immunogenic cell death.
