Research team develops novel nanobody targeting tumor-fueling fluid to treat late-stage cancer of abdominal lining

A team led by the National Cancer Center Singapore (NCCS) performed multi-omics analysis of 397 ascites samples and identified PAI-1 and S100A10 as key tumor-promoting proteins in the peritoneal metastasis microenvironment. Based on this, they developed E8, a nanobody targeting PAI-1.
Why it matters
After screening 397 ascites samples for PAI-1, the nanobody E8 suppressed tumors in in vitro, mouse and human ascites tissue models, providing preclinical proof of concept.
