[Articles] Perioperative chemotherapy and stereotactic body radiotherapy versus perioperative chemotherapy alone in patients with high-risk, localised pancreatic cancer (MASTERPLAN): an open-label, phase 2, multicentre, randomised trial of the Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group
In brief
The open-label, phase 2, multicentre MASTERPLAN randomised trial by the Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group (AGITG) showed that perioperative chemotherapy plus SBRT significantly reduced locoregional recurrence in high-risk, localised PDAC. Compared with perioperative chemotherapy alone, adding SBRT did not significantly increase toxicity; the authors say the strategy warrants investigation in larger studies.
