China Approves First tNGS-Based Kit for Detecting Mycobacterium tuberculosis Complex and Resistance Mutations

China has approved the first domestically developed kit based on targeted next-generation sequencing (tNGS) for detecting Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and drug-resistance gene mutations. The kit provides a testing basis for TB identification, early diagnosis of drug resistance, individualized treatment planning and TB control, moving tNGS TB resistance testing from consensus recommendation to nationally approved clinical testing.
