Study identifies potential new treatment targets for the most common type of bowel cancer

An international team led by RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences and The Institute of Cancer Research used the AI tool iPhenMap to analyze multi-omics data from 2,000 patients with MSS colorectal cancer, revealing new tumor vulnerabilities. In laboratory models, trametinib combined with other drugs significantly suppressed tumor growth and extended survival. Published in Cancer Cell, the study offers a drug repurposing strategy for hard-to-treat MSS colorectal cancer, with clinical validation as the next step.
