Hu Lulu Team Finds Surface Y RNA on Human Monocytes Amplifies Innate Immune Inflammatory Signaling

In brief

A study by Hu Lulu's team published in Nature Cell Biology shows that Y RNA on the surface of human monocytes captures extracellular histones released by tissue damage, promoting their interaction with TLR2/TLR4-associated signaling pathways and amplifying inflammatory responses. Using HASTE to dissect cell-surface RNA function, clinical cohort analyses and animal experiments suggest surface Y RNA could serve as an auxiliary biomarker and potential intervention target for inflammatory bowel disease.
