Diagnostic test could help doctors refine prostate cancer treatment
A University College London team presented a new analysis of the STAMPEDE trial at a cancer conference in Madrid: each 0.1 increase in the Decipher genomic test score corresponded to a hazard ratio of 1.49 for distant metastasis and 1.38 for prostate cancer death. Real-world data from 27,607 patients and 401 patients from the randomized trial consistently showed that high-score patients benefited from abiraterone intensification while low-score patients might avoid overtreatment. The UK NHS has already rolled out abiraterone for high-risk locally advanced prostate cancer.
Decipher genomic testing consistently identified abiraterone beneficiaries in real-world and randomized data, supporting treatment stratification for high-risk prostate cancer.
