GBD 2023分析显示，2023年全球20类卫生工作者达1.221亿人，较1990年增长198.5%，其中68.9%为女性，女性贡献了71.4%的净增长。区域分布不均，撒哈拉以南非洲各类卫生人力资源密度最低。要使全民健康覆盖指数达到80分，全球还需新增710万医生、2390万护士与助产士、180万牙医和160万药剂师。
