The American Association of Immunologists (AAI) is split over its endorsement of California's Proposition 38. The policy and advocacy committee recommended in July that the endorsement be rescinded, but after meeting with Gary Michelson, its leading backer, the council voted in August by 5 in favor, 1 opposed and 2 abstentions to maintain it. The concern was that the measure could benefit a research center Michelson co-founded.
