Jiangnan University Lecture Maps Bifidobacterium Gene Clusters to Constipation Relief and Metabolic Biomarkers

Jiangnan University researcher Ji Chao presented an ImmuneZoom lecture on probiotics, gut microbiota and food science, including functional gene clusters in Bifidobacterium. His lab identified clusters such as ABFA and HPA; knocking out the ABFA cluster weakens the constipation-relieving effect, and its abundance can serve as a biomarker for constipation and metabolic phenotypes. The work includes multiple clinical trials, a Cell Genomics paper, and bioinformatically identified interaction pathways between food components, probiotics and human phenotypes validated by wet-lab experiments.
