#ESMO26 Can adding atezolizumab to cabozantinib improve outcomes in metastatic papillary RCC?
SWOG S2200 (PAPMET2) randomized cabo ± atezo; trial closed early for slow accrual (n=33 eligible).
Cabo + atezo vs cabo:
🔹 mPFS: 25 vs 10 mo
🔹 HR 0.46 (95% CI 0.22–0.97); p=0.043
🔹 ORR: 47% vs 19%
🔹 PD as best response: 0% vs 19%
🔹 Grade 3/4 AEs: 65% vs 75%
🔑 Despite the small sample size + early closure, these randomized data support IO/TKI combination therapy as an appropriate 1L approach for mPRCC.
Results from STELLAR-304, SAMETA + AXIPAP remain pending.
