Delocalized DNA holes imprint mutation position in mismatch-repair-deficient cancers

In brief

In mismatch repair deficient gastric, colorectal and endometrial cancers, researchers found G>T mutations within guanine runs enriched at the 5' guanine (0.86~0.87) and depleted at the 3' guanine (0.05~0.08).

Why it matters

The study links mutation position within guanine runs to delocalized hole charge density, showing a fit-free match across four datasets and consistency across cancer types.
