Cortex-wide imaging in naturally behaving mice with 1-gram wireless mesoscopes
In brief
A Tsinghua University team developed the 1-gram wireless mesoscope Airscope, which enables cortex-wide calcium imaging in freely moving mice. The accompanying SAM2Mice segmentation method supports multi-animal identity tracking and synchronized group recording, demonstrated across natural behavior paradigms including tube competition, foraging competition, maze exploration and forced swimming, plus a dual-Airscope method for simultaneous cortical and spinal vascular and neural activity recording.
Why it matters
Airscope brings 1-gram wireless cortex-wide imaging to freely moving mice, with SAM2Mice and multi-animal recording workflows reusable in similar paradigms.
