STAT+: Launch prices for new medicines dipped slightly last year but remain high, analysis finds

In brief

A joint analysis by ICER and West Health found the median inflation-adjusted net price of newly launched drugs in 2025 was $257,000, up 35% from $173,000 in 2022. About one in four new drugs had annual net prices above $500,000, and 34% fell between $200,000 and $500,000. The median list price rose 24% over the same period to $293,000, and the gap between net and list prices reflects differing discount levels across drug types.

Why it matters

The article gives 2022 to 2025 median net and list price changes and price distribution data, a benchmark for drug pricing discussions.
