Stoffels turns to Indian pharma to revive CAR T programs

In brief

Former Galapagos CEO Paul Stoffels has founded Armed Cell Therapeutics B.V., which raised over €50 million, including a €48 million investment from Indian drugmaker Mankind Pharma, now its majority shareholder. The company will use the funds to revive a preclinical CAR-T pipeline, a year after Galapagos announced it was exiting the cell therapy business and as venture capital interest in cell therapy wanes.

Why it matters

Cell therapy restart by a former Galapagos CEO with Indian pharma backing is notable industry news.
