Creating 'satellite maps' of thousands of proteins across tissue could transform drug therapies
In brief
A University at Buffalo team reports in PNAS the development of hexagonal micro-scaffold assisted spatial proteomics (hex-MASP), which uses a 3D-printed scaffold of hexagonal wells to divide tissue sections into microsamples, then applies ultrasensitive mass spectrometry to reconstruct whole-tissue maps of thousands of proteins (DOI: 10.1073/pnas.2532946123).
Why it matters
Reports a whole-tissue spatial proteomics method that maps a drug and thousands of proteins together, offering a new perspective for Alzheimer's drug development.
