FDA Approves Roche IL-6R Antibody Satralizumab for Thyroid Eye Disease in Adults

On October 16, the FDA approved Roche's IL-6R monoclonal antibody satralizumab for thyroid eye disease (TED) in adults, introducing IL-6R as a new targeted mechanism for the indication and ending six years of exclusivity for the IGF-1R drug Tepezza. Satralizumab is also a TED therapy that can be self-administered by subcutaneous injection at home, adding a mechanism and delivery option beyond IGF-1R.
Why it matters
