Pathomic Texture Composites from H&E, and Immunohistochemistry of Prostatectomy Specimens for Exploratory Modeling of Time to Biochemical Recurrence

In brief

A retrospective exploratory study of 15 prostatectomy patients found that adding CD8 and CD163 immunohistochemistry texture composites raised the model's apparent C-index from 0.66 to 0.88 (95% CI 0.75-0.95). Adding H&E alone gave 0.68, and all three composites gave 0.89; the gain came only from the immune-stain composites. Results remain hypothesis-generating and require independent validation in larger, representative cohorts.

Why it matters

Small exploratory study, hypothesis-generating only
