Establishing Polycomb regulatory landscapes in human early development

In brief

The authors mapped H2AK119ub (H2Aub) distributions in human gametes, two-cell embryos, eight-cell embryos, blastocysts and embryonic stem cells, characterizing reprogramming and regionalization of this modification during early development. Published in Nature Genetics, doi:10.1038/s41588-026-02764-y, the study can serve as a reference for future research on Polycomb-mediated epigenetic regulation in human early development.

Why it matters

Covering multiple stages from human gametes to blastocysts, the study provides a reference map for research on Polycomb-mediated epigenetic regulation in early development.
