Curbing the neutrophil surge: New treatment offers hope for autoimmune diseases
In brief
Researchers at the University of Osaka report in the Journal of Experimental Medicine that spatial transcriptomics identified an early neutrophil–epithelial niche in kidney tissue from untreated ANCA-associated glomerulonephritis patients. In a mouse model, a modified antibody that reduces Fcγ receptor stimulation lessened kidney injury. DOI: 10.1084/jem.20260506.
Why it matters
Spatial transcriptomics delineated early neutrophil–epithelial niche formation in ANCA-associated glomerulonephritis, and Fcγ receptor-targeting modified antibodies reduced kidney injury in mice.
