Emvistegrast passes Phase 2 proof of concept in ulcerative colitis; Gilead plans Phase 3 in 2027

Gilead Sciences reported that in the Phase 2 SWIFT trial of emvistegrast in ulcerative colitis, the 200 mg group achieved a 12-week clinical response rate of 66% versus 37% for placebo. Clinical remission rates were 31% and 8%, respectively. The source calls it the first small-molecule alpha-4-beta-7 inhibitor to show efficacy in Phase 2, and Gilead plans to start Phase 3 in 2027.
