GSK to lay off over 1,200 roles in Belgium

In brief

GSK told Belgium's works council on 14 October 2026 that up to 1,217 jobs are at risk, mostly in its vaccines business, across sites in Rixensart, Wavre and Gembloux. The cuts form part of the three-year, $2.5 billion cost-reduction programme GSK announced in July 2025. Belgium hosts more than half of GSK's global vaccine manufacturing capacity, and consultation over the restructuring now moves forward.

Why it matters

Large job cuts in GSK's vaccines business tie directly to its $2.5 billion restructuring programme.
