Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology Team Publishes OSAR Platform in Nature Communications for One-Step Automated Refactoring of Large Biosynthetic Gene Clusters
A team led by Luo Xiaozhou at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, published the OSAR platform in Nature Communications. The platform integrates cloning and expression refactoring of large biosynthetic gene clusters into a one-step automated workflow, with PARBiG software performing automated design of primers and homology arms. Combined with a Tecan liquid-handling workstation and a Spinnaker robot, dozens of expression strains can be constructed in about 10 days.
OSAR automates gene cluster splitting, primer design, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae recombination into one workflow that builds expression strains from sequence in about 10 days, offering a transferable paradigm for large-scale mining of large NRPS gene clusters.
