Anti-CGRP Antibodies Linked to Higher Spontaneous Abortion Risk in AM-PREGNANT Cohort

In brief

First-trimester exposure to anti-CGRP monoclonal antibodies was associated with a 42% higher relative risk of spontaneous abortion in the AM-PREGNANT cohort, with absolute risk rising from about 6% in unexposed women to just under 9%. The cohort drew on US MarketScan real-world data covering more than 7,500 pregnant women aged 15 to 45 with chronic migraine before pregnancy. Propranolol showed no increased risk, consistent with current guidance to switch to it when planning pregnancy.
