Expert talk links gut lymphatic drainage and lipid transport to tertiary lymphoid structures in IBD

In brief

An ImmuneZoom expert lecture (58 minutes) argues that intestinal lipid transport and lymphatic drainage shape tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) in inflammatory bowel disease. Deleting B-cell lymphotoxin alpha/beta eliminates TLS, and TLS formation coincides with lymphatic valve identity loss and immune cell leakage from lymphatics in Crohn's disease. LXR-targeted drugs driving intestinal HDL biosynthesis genes reduced fibrosis in mice, an effect lost when intestinal HDL was knocked out.
