Deep dive

Gynecologic tumors are the only tumor type singled out in the side events around this congress, and the field has previously accumulated several lines of evidence. On the surgical side, a prospective study at a tertiary care center enrolled 100 patients with gynecologic malignancies undergoing surgery, prospectively collected SAS scores and observed complications up to 30 days postsurgery (graded per Clavien-Dindo), recording 30 complication events, reflecting the complexity of gynecologic oncologic surgery and continued exploration of outcome-prediction tools [6]. On fertility preservation, a systematic review and meta-analysis (search through 1 February 2022) showed that reproductive-aged women with cancer aged 18-45 may already have decreased ovarian reserve markers such as AMH, AFC, and basal FSH before any gonadotoxic treatment, i.e., cancer itself may affect ovarian function [5]. Together these threads frame the context for the dedicated post-congress gynecologic tumors review.

This ESMO congress is underway in Madrid. According to the live posts, media framed the congress agenda around the intersection of personalized medicine, immunotherapy, and therapeutic optimization; GEICAM posted on opening day that it has arrived, "eager to share the results of our work," but which studies, which endpoints, sample sizes, and data were not disclosed in the posts; MSD Spain (@msd_es) said it is welcoming professionals at various points across the city, likewise without specific product data.

Two separate side events should be distinguished. First, the 6th Post ESMO+ update meeting on gynecologic tumors, scheduled for 4 November at Hotel Primus in Valencia with an online option, coordinated by Dr. @PerezFidal, where experts will review the main ESMO2026 novelties in ovarian, cervical, and endometrial cancer; organized by TransworldHlth and FundOncoayuda, with scientific endorsement from GEICOgroup. Second, Fundación ECO will hold the International Oncology Networking Reception 2026 on Saturday, 24 October at 19:00h at Club Financiero Génova in Madrid, positioned as a venue to connect international oncology leaders.

In terms of what advances, only the agenda and event arrangements themselves can be confirmed at this point: gynecologic tumor novelties will receive a dedicated systematic review after the congress, and the overall congress topics span personalized medicine, immunotherapy, and therapeutic optimization. The limitations are equally clear — these live posts are congress-time promotion and event announcements, containing no specific trial names, endpoints, or efficacy and safety figures; the background literature cited only provides peripheral context for gynecologic oncology and cannot be extrapolated to what any party will report; the actual readouts await formal disclosure at the congress.
