Distributed AI Agents Analyze Whole-Brain Perturb-seq Atlas in Minutes
Start here
Researchers have demonstrated a distributed biological reasoning system in which many AI agents are assigned to individual facets of an experiment and their findings are combined for study-wide interpretation. Applied to a whole-brain Perturb-seq atlas, thousands of agents working in parallel examined the dataset in minutes rather than the estimated months a human analysis would take. The system recovered the conclusions of a source manuscript without having seen it, predicted the effects of held-out perturbations, and retrieved hundreds of times more references than a single agent could. Blinded human experts preferred interpretations from distributed agents over those from a single agent. The preprint, posted on bioRxiv Genomics, outlines the method and its initial benchmark results. Independent replication and adoption beyond the demonstrated dataset have not yet been reported.
