SF3B1 mutation generates novel peptides from long non-coding RNAs

SF3B1 mutation generates novel peptides from long non-coding RNAs

In brief

Long-read sequencing of full-length transcripts, analyzed with a new workflow called ALLR, shows that SF3B1 mutation generates thousands of novel long non-coding RNAs with diverse alternative splicing. Matched RNA and proteomic data indicate these lncRNAs produce translatable peptides with immunogenicity and effects on cellular signalling. 47 of the lncRNAs were detected in primary chronic lymphocytic leukemia samples and linked to adverse prognosis alongside known CLL risk factors.
