Counterfeit Versions of Eye Drops Found in Several States

In brief

The FDA has identified counterfeit over-the-counter eye drops sold in Florida and Georgia stores serving mainly Spanish-speaking customers, with possible presence in Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina and other states. Testing found Staphylococcus contamination in counterfeit Colirio Ocusan Alivio rapido del enrojecimiento and unconfirmed bacterial contamination in counterfeit Ocusan Ojos Secos, both labeled as DLC Laboratories products. The FDA is working with distributors to remove the products and its investigation continues; no adverse events have been reported to the agency.
